Where are the best places to park?
The Music Building (where the Music Auditorium and Hart Recital Hall are
housed) is located north of the center of campus on West Circle Drive,
kitty-corner from the main library. Parking near the music building can
be challenging - please arrive early to avoid delays. There is metered
parking along West Circle Drive and along the front of the music building,
and after
6 p.m., you can park in the
employee-permit-only spaces in these vicinities and at the MSU Museum.
Parking is also available in Stadium Parking Lot #62 for a small fee.
Unless there is a football game, there is usually plenty of
convenient (paid) parking at the Spartan Stadium on the east side (closest to the Sparty statue) in the IM Sports West Lot #62. This is
about a 5-minute walk to the Music Building.
For events at the Wharton Center
(where the Great Hall and Pasant Theatre are located), park in the parking
garage ($5.00 parking fee) on East Shaw Lane.
For events at Wharton Center's
Fairchild Theatre or University Auditorium, located at the corner of Farm
Lane and Auditorium Road, park in the gated lot on Auditorium Road.
For more parking information visit the MSU Police and Public Safety website.
Can I pay for tickets, CDs, fees and
marching band merchandise by credit card?
At this time we are unable to process credit cards. We ask that all payments be made
via mail or in-person. Mailed payments must be checks or money orders, and may be sent to: 102 Music Bldg. Michigan State University,
East Lansing, MI 48824.
Do you sell season tickets?
Yes. Choose from the money-saving 20-concert pack or the 10-concert pack.
You can use these tickets for any of our regularly priced College of Music
concerts, which are: $8, $6 for senior citizens, and free for students
with an MSU I.D. and those under age 18. You can also share your tickets
with friends and family. Some concerts are reserved-seating only with
special admission prices. If this is the case, it will always be noted
with the concert listing/announcement. To find out more about purchasing
concert packs, call (517) 432-8344.
How can I keep informed of the latest College of Music Events?

opera-only events. If you include your physical address, you will receive
an annual events brochure, and flyers on special events throughout the
year. There is also a 24-hour Music Events Line with the most up-to-date
information: (517) 355-3345.

Information for prospective and current MSU students:
How do I join an ensemble?
All MSU students are encouraged to join a music ensemble. Ensemble members
must be MSU students, but are not required to be music majors. Many ensembles
require students to audition and/or sign up before the beginning of a
semester or academic year. To arrange for an audition or inquire about
procedures, students should contact the office appropriate to the ensemble
to inquire about procedures:
Athletic Bands
Choral
University Bands
Jazz
New Music
Opera Orchestras
Will I be able to find work with a music degree after I graduate?
Contrary to popular belief, currently there is a high demand for - and shortage of - music teachers in the United States. The College of Music
has had a 100 percent career placement rate over the past eight years for its Music Education and Music Therapy graduates.
Is there a computer lab and how do I get access to it?
Yes; Visit the Services
and Resources section on this website.
How do I get a locker?
There are a limited number of lockers for music majors only. There is
a $20 non-refundable one-time fee that is required up front before a locker
key is issued. Music Majors wishing to seek further information should
contact Karen DeFord in the main office, (517) 353-5340, defordk@msu.edu.
Who can
check out instruments?
Specialized and practice College of Music instruments used for ensembles
and method classes are available to authorized participants only. For
more information, visit the policies
page. To arrange an appointment with the inventory personnel to sign out/in
an instrument, contact the Band Office, (517) 355-7654.
Can I major in two different degrees at the same time? (dual degrees?)
Yes.
Does an override automatically enroll me in a class?
No, You are responsible for enrolling in classes separately. An override just gives you permission to enroll.

and current College of Music students:

Where/When do I send information for my programs?
Please send your program information at least two weeks before your concert
