About the Orchestras
Recognized by musicians, music
educators, and music critics alike to be among the finest orchestral programs
in the United States, the four Michigan State University Orchestras
present a variety of concerts each academic year with internationally
known music faculty and guest artists as featured soloists.
The program is truly international
with orchestra students representing more than 30 countries.
The following Internationally
known guest artists have appeared with the orchestras: Earl Wild, Peter
Nero, Daniel Heifetz, David Cerone, Gil Shaham, Jerse Tomachek, Johnn
Graham, Julian Lloyd Weber, Steven Dohn, Berj Zamkochian, Frank Kadarabek,
David Jolly, David Bacon, Charles Vernon, Robert Merrill, Marilyn Horne,
Frederica von Stade, Marvin Hamlisch, and Linda Ronstadt, among many others. The Symphony Orchestra has commissioned and/or performed more that 20 world premiers to date.
The Orchestra Program will present
a variety of exciting performances during the 2007-08 academic year. Guest artists of international reputation and various College of Music choral ensembles will also appear with the Symphony and Chamber Orchestras.
