Michigan State University Conducting Symposium

June 8-12, 2008

Workshop Overview

Each conducting participant will conduct daily, receiving significant individual instruction time.  In addition, participants and observers will be engaged in sessions covering score study, chamber music and its role in music education, conducting outside the realm of the wind band, and basic movement fundamentals.  Participants will have ample opportunities to ask questions and voice their musical opinions in the panel discussion with the conductors and daily wrap-up sessions.  The workshop will begin at 5:30 pm on Sunday, June 8, and conclude at 12:00 pm on Thursday, June 12.  A more detailed schedule will be posted during registration.

Enrollment Information

You may enroll as either a conducting participant or an observer.  There are a limited number of positions available for conducting participants, and this will be handled on a first come, first served basis, with preference given to those with an undergraduate degree and teaching experience.  The enrollment fee for conducting participants is $600, and the enrollment fee for observers is $250.
