Chouk Bwa Libète concert

Cook Recital Hall, Music Building

Latin IS America

A traditional Haitian Mizik Rasin—roots music—band brings rhythmic vocals and percussion to life with spiritual dance and chants. The source of the ensemble's music is the essential elements of Haitian Vodou: rhythm and dance. These are the roots, torn from Africa, and secretly replanted in a new land. The songs are a blend of traditional songs and original compositions by Jean Claude Sambaton Dorvil.

Ensemble members:

Gomez (Djopipi) Henris, vocals - (fe) - drums
Riscot Cedieu, lanbi - drums - vocals
