Rasa Saxophone Quartet wins MTNA National Chamber Music Competition
The Rasa Saxophone Quartet, an MSU student ensemble, won First Prize
at the Music Teachers National Association (MTNA) National Chamber Music
Competition in Salt Lake City. This is one of the most prominent chamber
music competitions in the United States. The group moved forward in several
rounds in various locations around the country during the year, eventually
competing in Salt Lake City during the national meeting of MTNA. Competitors
included numerous wind and string chamber groups. As a result of its win,
the group was featured at the MTNA's national conference.

Prior to winning this competition, the Quartet was featured at the Region
5 North American Saxophone Alliance Conference at the University of Wisconsin-Platteville.
In July 2003, the group performed upon invitation at the World Saxophone
Congress XIII at the University of Minnesota. For information on future
