Ronald Newman is professor of music theory at the Michigan State University College of Music.
He received a bachelor of music degree from North Texas State University, and a Ph.D. from MSU. Newman is former director of the award-winning MSU Jazz Bands I and II, instructor of jazz improvisation, arranging, pedagogy, and history, and past president of the Michigan Chapter of the National Association of Jazz Educators. Newman is a recipient of the National Endowment for the Arts Commissioning Consortium Award.
