Joanne and Bill Church West Circle Series

The fourth annual Joanne and Bill Church West Circle Series makes  the much anticipated move to Fairchild Theatre. This highly acclaimed sold-out series features Gershwin, Debussy, Mozart, and Chopin. These exceptional ensembles feature various instrumental combinations with talented artists. Enjoy musically intimate experiences in this dramatically enhanced concert space.The series culminates in the critically acclaimed Cello Plus Chamber Music Festival.

  • All West Circle Series concerts will take place in the newly renovated Fairchild Theatre beginning in October 2013. 
  • Purchase tickets for West Circle Series concerts at the door 60 minutes before each concert, in 102 Music Building on the MSU campus or via phone (517-353-5340) during university business hours, or at the online College of Music box office (available August 1, 2013).

  • Monday, October 28, 7:30 p.m.: ’S Wonderful

Both wonderful and marvelous—the music of George Gershwin runs the gamut from the folk opera Porgy and Bess to the classic Rhapsody in Blue.

  • Monday, November 25, 7:30 p.m.: A French Master: Claude Debussy 

Revolutionary, influential, enchanting, Claude debussy, a composer who wished to sing of his “interior visions with the naive candour of a child.”

  • Monday, January 27, 7:30 p.m.: Happy Birthday Mozart

West circle’s annual birthday party honors one of the world’s most  beloved composers. 

  • Friday, 2/28, 8:00 p.m.: Chopiniana

A celebration of the amazing music of Frederic Chopin—one of the greatest composers of the romantic era.
