Key Policy
Faculty/Staff
Faculty and staff will be issued up to two keys for their office/studio.
Additional keys, excluding those for students of the faculty (see next
item), will be available at a non-refundable fee of $30 per key. If a key
is lost and the faculty requests re-keying of their office, that faculty
will be responsible for the expense of re-keying the room.
Any faculty member wishing their students to have a key to their studio
must complete and sign a Permission Slip for each student. Those students
will be required to leave a $30 refundable deposit.
Faculty will be issued classroom keys only to those rooms in which they
are scheduled to teach that particular semester. Keys must be returned to
the main office at the end of each semester.
Music Auditorium and Hart Recital Hall keys will be issued on a per usage
basis except to faculty regularly scheduled to teach in these rooms.
There will be a $30 lost key charge for each key checked out and not
returned. This includes short & long-term (i.e. office) keys.
Students
Incoming freshmen will be charged a $20, non-refundable, deposit for
locker or practice room keys. If students check out both a locker and a
practice room key only one fee will be charged.
If a key has not been returned by the due date, the student to whom the
key was issued will be notified and a hold will be placed on her/his
account.
Graduating seniors must return all issued keys (locker and room) by the
last day of finals week of their final semester. A hold will be placed on
their account for any key outstanding after that date.
All other students are to turn in room keys at the end of each semester
and locker keys at the end of each academic year (or last semester at
MSU). Any students with outstanding keys will have a hold placed on their
account.
Graduate assistants will be issued a key to their office and a key to the
room(s) in which they teach and are not required to leave a deposit.
Office keys must be returned at the end of finals week of each Spring
semester and classroom keys at the end of finals week of each semester.
If keys are not returned by this time, a hold will be placed on the
student's account.
