MSU-China Vocal Collaboration

The MSU-China Vocal Collaboration concludes with a concert in East Lansing that features College of Music students performing with students from the China Conservatory of Music and the Tianjin Conservatory of Music. Almost 100 MSU and Chinese students have participated in the collaboration since its beginning. It was conceived by Richard Fracker, MSU professor of voice, and Haijing Fu at the Metropolitan Opera and has been nurtured through their personal friendship. Its goal is to promote musical collaboration, excellence, and exchange as well as significant cultural experiences and understanding between the United States and China. Summer Study Abroad Programs
 

Culture and Sustainable Development in Cuba, Havana, Cuba
The College of Music is partnering with the College of Social Science to offer a new Study Abroad program, "Music and Sustainable Development," in Havana, Cuba. Participants in this program will experience Cuba's rich culture; study music and national identity, music and entrepreneurship, and music and transculturation; attend workshops and performances; and fulfill course requirements: Integrative Studies (Social Science, Arts and Humanities), Music, Geography, Social Science, Urban Planning. This program is being offered in collaboration with Colegio San Geronimo, University of Havana, Oficina del Historiador (Havana, Cuba).  For more information, email program leaders Rene Hinojosa or Ricardo Lorenz.

Master Classes at the Centro Studi Carlo Della Giacoma, Todi, Italy
The MSU College of Music offers a summer Study Abroad program in Todi, Italy, in partnership with the Centro Studi Carlo Della Giacoma, a cultural association founded in 1998 and named for the composer, musicologist, and conductor Carlo Della Giacoma. Students participate in master classes and are presented in a concert series. They gain firsthand knowledge of Italian culture and language and have time to explore large city centers as well as the countryside. Todi, a beautiful medieval town of ancient origin, is located in the heart of the Umbrian valley halfway between Rome and Florence on a hilltop overlooking the Tevere River. For more information, click here
