Suggested Audition Materials

Clarinet

An accompanist is neither required nor provided. You may bring an accompanist at your own discretion.

Undergraduate and Music Minor

  • Perform major and minor scales (two octaves).
  • Any studies from the Rose Etudes.
  • A solo to demonstrate technique, tone, and musicianship

Master of Music

  • Prescreening
    • Prior to being invited to a live audition, applicants are required to submit prescreening recordings.  Upload the videos to the Digital Portfolio section of the College of Music Supplemental Application. You will be given access to the Digital Portfolio after the College of Music Supplemental Applicantion is submitted.
      • Videos are due no later than Dec 1
      • Maximin of 15 minutes of uneditted repertoire selected from the on-campus audition requirements.
  • On-Campus Audition
    • Three contrasting pieces or movements from multi-movement works, which demonstrate technique command, tone quality, and musicianship.

Doctor of Musical Arts

  • Prescreening

Performance Diploma

Although repertoire selection and performance in the audition bear great importance, final acceptance is based on the demonstration of talent, dedication, and the desire to achieve excellence rather than solely upon the level of proficiency already achieved.
