Chamber Music

Through professional residencies with world-renowned artists, prize-winning groups in top competitions, student residencies, educational initiatives, and entrepreneurial and community engagement, MSU Chamber Music maintains a vibrant and relevant presence in today's musical culture. Contact Assistant Professor of Violin and MSU Chamber Music Coordinator Yvonne Lam at lamyvonn@msu.edu regarding programs and opportunities for collaboration.

One of the premiere chamber music events in the College is the Barbara Wagner Chamber Music Competition. This annual, donor-sponsored competition encourages the formation of chamber music ensembles, supports the pursuit of entrepreneurship by ensembles and individuals, and provides a training ground for musicians to compete in external competitions. Other chamber events and opportunities for students include Sensory Friendly Spartan concerts, the International Chamber Soloists, the Chamber Music Showcase Concert, multiple guest chamber ensembles throughout each year, and numerous performances by MSU Music faculty.

Several MSU Music faculty members perform regularly as chamber musicians, and Music students at MSU are guided personally by these respected and dedicated educators and performers. Visit the Strings, Woodwinds, Piano, Percussion, and Jazz areas of the College of Music to read more about the experience and activities of the MSU Music faculty.
