An enduring inspiration

Alumna honored for work with RicStar's Camp.

In October 2019, Michigan State University alumna Judy Winter was announced by L'Oreal Paris as one of their ten Women of Worth, an annual recognition for "women who selflessly volunteer their time to serve their communities." Judy, a graduate of the MSU College of Communication Arts and Sciences, is one of the founders of the Eric ‘RicStar’ Winter Music Therapy Camp held at the MSU Community Music School in East Lansing. A one-of-a-kind day camp for individuals with special needs, RicStar's Camp provides opportunities for immersion in musical expression through music therapy and one-on-one support to nurture and celebrate each individual’s abilities, while also modeling examples of positive inclusion. The College of Music is proud of RicStar's Camp and all it has accomplished and continues to bring to members of our community, and proud of Judy Winter for being a driving force behind this effort. Spartans Will!
