Coronavirus/COVID-19 Information

A message from the Dean.

Updated, March 18, 2020

To the MSU College of Music community,

In accordance with Governor Whitmer’s emergency declaration and protocols set by the University, as of today, all College of Music public events have been suspended through the remainder of the spring semester. The health and safety of our MSU community and our highly valued patrons comes first.

The state has announced confirmed COVID-19 cases in our region and advised against public gatherings. MSU announced the suspension of face-to-face instruction and moved to virtual instruction through the remainder of the semester. These actions and precautionary measures directly impact our upcoming concerts.

Proceeds from ticket sales have already been applied to a variety of event production costs that provide professional experiences for our students. For example, costs for our spring opera already exceed $40,000 for theatrical settings, costumes and the guest conductor. Of course, individuals who wish to receive a refund for ticket purchases may call the College of Music Box Office at 517-353-5340 or email requests to .(JavaScript must be enabled to view this email address). Refund requests will be accepted Monday, March 16 through Friday, May 1, 2020. Rather than in-person visits, please issue requests and contact with the Box Office to phone and email.

Please visit msu.edu/coronavirus for complete information on the University’s response. We value the support of our patrons and the dedication of our students, faculty, and staff and appreciate your understanding during this challenging time.

Sincerely,

James B. Forger, Dean
College of Music
