To all friends and followers of the MSU College of Music.
There is a tremendous amount of hard work and dedication that goes into earning a degree in music. It’s a great achievement under normal circumstances, but the Class of 2020 has experienced a unique and challenging end to their studies at MSU in the wake of the COVID-19 pandemic.
The finish line is near, and I am proud of the way in which our students have risen to the occasion. They have adjusted to remote learning and forged on spectacularly, even without in-person mentorship, high-fives, and pats on the back from their colleagues. Despite the challenges, they are ready.
To honor our graduates, we have created a special virtual opportunity for them to celebrate with family and friends, and to say, “we made it!” I would like to invite you to participate with us, and share your congratulations with this amazing class of students.
Applaud our graduates
From May 2–9, post congratulatory messages on Facebook or other social media and offer your well-wishes. Video messages are great, but you could also consider posting photos with a simple written message, or whatever you deem appropriate. Anything you share, please tag us @MusicMSU on Facebook, Twitter and Instagram, and use the hashtag #MSUGRAD20.
Join our Graduation Ceremony
On Saturday, May 9 at 10 a.m. EDT, the college will premiere a special commencement video on Facebook and YouTube. We hope you’ll join us online during the premiere and post well-wishes there, too.
