Arx duo percussionists Mari Yoshinaga and MSU alumnus Garrett Arney share a goal to expand the repertoire and versatility of percussion music. Hailed by critics for their “musicianship, intelligence and superb performance,” arx duo travels the country educating young musicians and working with composers to premiere new works for percussion.

Based out of Charlotte, North Carolina, vocalist Lindsay Kesselman is no stranger to East Lansing. Recently she was featured as a soloist on Antique Violences: the Music of John Mackey, recorded by the MSU Wind Symphony. Kesselman is a passionate advocate for contemporary music and served eight seasons as resident soprano for the Pittsburgh New Music Ensemble.

Highlighting the MSU Symphony Orchestra performance are a world premiere of an orchestral version of John Mackey’s Songs from the End of the World, plus an ethereal work written to reflect the timeless and spacious nature of the universe, Les Espaces Infinis (The Infinite Spaces), a melodic meditation of falling chords and musical stillness.

General admission seating: $12 for adults, $10 for seniors, free for students and those under 18 with valid ID, and are available from the College of Music box office—in person at the Music Building, Room 102, 333 W. Circle Drive or over the phone at (517) 353-5340—online at music.msu.edu, or at the door one hour before the show.
