The MSU Community Music School in East Lansing has a new home

Preparing for its 20th anniversary this fall, the MSU Community Music School in East Lansing has a lot to celebrate, including opening doors at a new location this past January. Now connected with the MSU campus, the new location increases visibility, provides state-of-the-art practice and performance space for the community, and conveniently links with public transportation.

The school, now relocated to 4930 S. Hagadorn Road in East Lansing, serves 3,000 community members annually.

"This exciting new location for CMS allows for greater participation from the MSU community and from the Greater Lansing Community, as it is now on campus and on a CATA bus route," said Rhonda Buckley, executive director of CMS. "With its location on Hagadorn Road, the visibility has allowed us to roll out some new, exciting programs and collaborations with the campus and the community. More new programs will be announced soon," continued Buckley. "Our students have been delighted with the new space."

In the fall, the Community Music School will be hosting some celebratory activities to mark its anniversary and showcase the new location, including Encore! Tailgate, a family-friendly tailgate event and Encore! Evening, a formal evening fundraiser with food, drinks, entertainment, and remarks from MSU President Lou Anna K. Simon.
