Musicology Courses

BACHELOR’S STUDENTS

1. You may count any course in musicology at the 400-level.
2. The 400-level courses often require permission before enrollment if you took MUS 214 as the prerequisite.
3. DO NOT sign up for multiple courses to ‘hold a space’ while you make your decision.

MASTER’S STUDENTS

1. You may count any course in musicology at the 400-level or above.
2. 400-level courses (2 cr) require taking the corresponding MUS 892a Graduate Seminar (1 cr) for a total of 3 crs.
3. MUS 413, 414, 415, 416, 417 do NOT count toward the required coursework in musicology.
4. MUS 830 does NOT count toward the 6 credits of required coursework in musicology.
5. The 400-level courses ALWAYS require permission before enrollment.
6. DO NOT sign up for multiple courses to ‘hold a space’ while you make your decision.

DOCTORAL STUDENTS

1. You may only count courses at the 800- or 900-level to meet your musicology requirement.
2. 400-level and corresponding MUS 892a Graduate Seminar count as Electives only.
3. MUS 830 does not count toward the 6 credits of required coursework in musicology.
4. DO NOT sign up for multiple courses to ‘hold a space’ while you make your decision.
