The Spartan Youth Wind Symphony (SYWS) is an honors wind ensemble for high school students. Open to the most outstanding Michigan high school instrumentalists (woodwind, brass, and percussion), the Spartan Youth Wind Symphony provides an opportunity to rehearse in a university setting. Students will perform and interact with peers from around the state and receive instruction from College of Music faculty and students. They will enhance their skills as musicians and ensemble performers through the exploration of advanced-level repertoire in an inspired rehearsal atmosphere. Each semester culminates in combined performances with the MSU Wind Symphony, Symphony Band or MSU Alumni Concert Band.

Application Process

There are two steps to complete the application process:

1. Complete the SYWS Application form by Friday, May 17, 2024
2. Submit a video-recorded audition of the required material by Friday, May 24, 2024
