Distinguished Lecture in Music Theory Series.

Dr. Anabel Maler is a music theory scholar whose work spans music and disability studies, Deaf culture, music perception, embodiment and gesture, post-tonal form, and the intersections of music theory, musicology, and ethnomusicology. Originally from the Ottawa area in Ontario, she earned her B.Mus and M.A. in music theory from McGill University. In 2018, she completed her PhD in music theory and history at the University of Chicago with a dissertation titled “Hearing Form in Post-Tonal Music.” Click here to see the full bio.
