Music, Art, and Light

Part of Ascent Act II, presented by the MSU Museum in partnership with University Arts and Collections and the MSU College of Music.
Free event; registration is required to attend.

This program features a 30-minute live concert inspired by Blurred Realities, curated and conducted by College of Music doctoral student Michael Antonio Gabriel and performed by MSU student musicians. The program includes Brad Lubman’s …to quiet the mind, Jennifer Bellor’s Light, Awaken, Gossamer by Cassie Wieland, in drops of dew will I sink down and mingle with the dust by Nick Bentz, and Things Invisible by MSU graduate composer Carlos Lalonde, exploring themes of perception, motion, and transformation through contemporary chamber music.

The concert concludes with large-scale projections by Professor Alison Dobbins and her students illuminating the museum’s south façade, accompanied by specially arranged music incorporating the sounds of the Beaumont Tower carillon.

Presented as part of Ascent Act II, this event is hosted by the MSU Museum as a celebration of creativity, collaboration, and innovation. The evening brings together art, music, culinary experiences, and student creativity in a vibrant campus-wide event. The College of Music’s performance is one of several featured experiences throughout the evening.
