Musique 21: “From Darkness to Light”

Featuring six contemporary works that explore transformation, tension, and reflection. At the center is a new song cycle by MSU composer David Biedenbender for tenor, violin, cello, and percussion—an introspective and visceral work rooted in poetic narrative.  The program also includes pieces by Raven Chacon, Mary Kouyoumdjian, Đuro Živković, David Lang, and Alan Shockley—works that traverse ritual, disquiet, and unexpected rhythmic energy.  Conducted by Katherine Kilburn, joined by conductors Zongheng Zhang and Dan Jaggars.
