Featuring six contemporary works that explore transformation, tension, and reflection. The program highlights Before the Red Sky Reaches Us by MSU composer David Biedenbender, a powerful song cycle for tenor, violin, cello, and percussion that responds to poetic reflections on a changing planet — balancing moments of urgency, closeness, and lingering hope.
Additional works by Raven Chacon, Đuro Živković, Mary Kouyoumdjian, Andrea Clearfield, and David Lang move between ritual and motion, darkness and illumination, lyric reflection and driving pulse — offering listeners a vivid snapshot of today’s chamber music. Conducted by Katherine Kilburn, joined by conductors Zongheng Zhang and Dan Jaggars.
Generously sponsored by the Sam and Mary Austin Fund for New Music.
