A wide variety of performance opportunities await our students each year, with orchestras, bands, choirs and opera, jazz nonets and combos, small ensembles, and more.
A variety of programs and initiatives operate continuously or annually to enhance learning experiences and help students prepare for their future in music.
The MSU College of Music supports and challenges students, values innovation and creativity, and helps every community member achieve professional excellence.
A man of letters, merchant, abolitionist, theater lover, and musician, Charles Ignatius Sancho (1729-1780) made history as the first British man of African descent to vote in a general election. The acclaimed Cleveland-based Les Délices’ ensemble of baroque oboe, violin, cello, and harpsichord explores music composed by Sancho himself as well as that of his contemporaries, including works by Geminiani and selections from Handel’s Music for the Royal Fireworks.
Based in Cleveland, Ohio, the group is known for their innovative programming and world-class performances on period instruments. Founded by baroque oboist Debra Nagy in 2009, Les Délices has established a reputation for delivering audiences informative and adventurous early music-era concerts.
The entire Early Music Series is generously supported by the Taylor Johnston Early Music Series Endowment established by Taylor Johnston.
