Symphony Orchestra and Choirs, “Holiday Glory”

Celebrate the season with one of MSU’s most cherished musical traditions. The MSU Symphony Orchestra joins the Choral Union, State Singers, and University Chorale for a festive concert highlighting the spirit of the holidays. The program features two settings of the Magnificat by Gerald Finzi and Imant Raminsh—works rooted in centuries-old sacred text from Luke 1:46–55 that has inspired composers for generations. Finzi’s 1952 setting reflects his distinctive choral and orchestral writing and rich harmonic language, while Latvian-born Canadian composer Raminsh brings a lyrical, songful style shaped by his musical roots. Additional seasonal favorites, including Sleigh Ride, complete the concert, culminating in a joyful audience sing-along. Conducted by Sandra Snow, Derrick Fox, and Octavio Más-Arocas.
