Benjamin Ebener is director of admissions at the Michigan State University College of Music. He provides leadership for the recruitment and admission of prospective undergraduate and graduate students and participate as a member of the College executive leadership team.
Born and raised in Central Illinois, Ebener was an active performer throughout the state. After graduating from Illinois Wesleyan in 1994, his studies took him to Florida State University for graduate work where he began a career in music admissions. During his 13 years at FSU he was instrumental in combining the once separate offices of undergraduate and graduate admissions under his leadership. From there, he led numerous admissions and enrollment services technology projects. These projects resulted in online applicant and faculty services and created the foundation for a paperless admissions process.
Ebener continues to be an active musician. His former Woodwind Quartet performed for various charitable organizations throughout the Tallahassee area. As the former principal bassoonist of the Tallahassee Winds, he has performed in a variety of regional concerts and an international tour of Australia, which culminated in a performance at the Sydney Opera House.
