TicketsThe American Modern Ensemble (AME) brings its bold, inventive approach to contemporary chamber music to Michigan State University on Wednesday, October 15, 2025, at 7:30 p.m. in Fairchild Theatre. Renowned for inventive instrumentation and a dynamic performance style, AME opens the 2025–26 MSU Federal Credit Union Showcase Series with an evening that captures the vitality and innovation of contemporary chamber music.
The concert will include works by a variety of composers, including MSU artist-faculty composer David Biedenbender, alongside music that showcases AME’s dynamic instrumental versatility. The evening’s repertoire spans driving rhythms, playful dances, mathematically inspired soundscapes, reimagined histories, and bold reflections on American life, giving audiences a vivid window into the range of contemporary chamber music performances. Musicians of AME include Lindsey Goodman, flute; Keve Wilson, oboe; Joseph Gramley, percussion; Amir Farid, piano; Charlene Kluegel, violin; Dave Eggar, cello; and MSU clarinetist Tasha Warren.

“This ensemble thrives on creating connections between composers of today, performers, and audiences,” said Tasha Warren, AME clarinetist and MSU Assistant Professor of Chamber Music. “They bring a level of excitement and accessibility to new music that will inspire both our students and the community.”
The ensemble’s visit is also part of the Entrepreneurial Musical Artist in Residence program, supported by the MSU Federal Credit Union. During their residency, AME will engage students through Lunch & Learn sessions, Coffee Chats, and a Composer Reading featuring student works—offering insight into contemporary music-making alongside their performance.
