A wide variety of performance opportunities await our students each year, with orchestras, bands, choirs and opera, jazz nonets and combos, small ensembles, and more.
A variety of programs and initiatives operate continuously or annually to enhance learning experiences and help students prepare for their future in music.
The MSU College of Music supports and challenges students, values innovation and creativity, and helps every community member achieve professional excellence.
The College of Music recognizes the significant educational and professional value that off-campus performances, conferences, competitions, and other external engagements provide for our students. Faculty seeking financial support to facilitate travel for ensembles, groups, or student musicians are asked to complete the Intent to Travel & Support Form below.
This process allows the College to review the purpose, scope, and anticipated impact of each opportunity, including its alignment with student success initiatives, the College’s mission, and the University’s strategic priorities. It also provides a framework for discussing projected expenses, potential cost-sharing, and strategies for ensuring meaningful student engagement and institutional recognition.
Requests must be submitted in accordance with the stated timeline (9 months of the proposed trip; requests of $15,000 or more require at least 12 months’ notice).
