Color Me Music is a student group formed by College of Music students with the goal of providing support for collaborations among music students of color and to encourage new collaborations. Conceived in 2018 by then-students Jordyn Davis and Jadrian Tarver, now alumni, the group had a positive impact early on by helping with the programming of the annual Martin Luther King, Jr. Day commemorative concert in January. Since then, the group has held regular meetings, meets regularly with college leadership, and held many recitals during Black History Month and other occasions. Founders Jordyn and Jadrian are featured in the video above that explains the origins of the group that continues to evolve in exciting ways as leadership is passed to a new cohort of students. Color Me Music emphasizes that all students are welcome.
Encouraging greater collaboration among students of color in fine art and music fields through multicultural advocacy and diversity scholarship.
