A wide variety of performance opportunities await our students each year, with orchestras, bands, choirs and opera, jazz nonets and combos, small ensembles, and more.
A variety of programs and initiatives operate continuously or annually to enhance learning experiences and help students prepare for their future in music.
The MSU College of Music supports and challenges students, values innovation and creativity, and helps every community member achieve professional excellence.
Graduates: as you prepare to end your time at MSU, you may be excited to take your next step—or still unsure of where you may be heading in the coming months. If you do already have a next step planned out, please take 2 minutes to report this outcome on the MSU Music Destination Survey! We use the survey to help share with future Spartans the kinds of activities successful alum participate in, and share career outcomes with prospective students considering MSU.
If you are still developing your post-graduation plans, that’s totally normal! It is typical to spend 3-6 months after graduation searching for opportunities or building for your next step. During that time, the Running Start office is here to help! You can meet with us online throughout the summer for one-on-one advising, check out our last-minute summer jobs and opportunities document, or email us your questions!
Do you want to get started on an idea, business venture, or project this summer? Join a Summer Creative Project Cohort to get some help and stay on top of your goals! These groups of 6-8 students from different universities (Eastman, UM, MSU, and CU Boulder) meet weekly in May and early June ONLINE. You can participate from anywhere, meet and network with students across the US, and kickstart your summer by thinking creatively and accomplishing goals! Sign up here by April 30.

Offered through CAPS, a new, free, online peer-to peer mental health support community called Togetherall is now available. Monitored and moderated 24/7 by licensed clinicians, the platform is for students who are feeling overwhelmed with academic, social, or personal challenges, but might not seek out in-person or virtual mental health treatment. Students only need their MSU email to register.

Please see the instructions below for retrieving recording files in Cook Recital Hall:
After you press the stop icon, you can plug a USB Flash Drive (not provided, users must bring their own) into the USB port on the backstage right wall to transfer the recording to the portable drive.
Note: you need a minimum of a USB3.0 device to ensure a quick transfer and having a device with an activity light is recommended as a further indicator to have a visual cue of when the transfer is completed. Not sure if you have a USB 3 drive? USB 3 flash drives often have blue or teal interior stripe in their connector. For best results, the drive should be formatted in the exFAT format. You can check out a USB drive that is formatted correctly from the main office.
As a College of Music student, you are eligible for two free tickets to Con Amore: Puccini and More on Monday, April 8 at 7:30 p.m. in Fairchild Theatre. The final Joanne and Bill Church West Circle Series concert of the season features the artistry of faculty from our Vocal Arts area singing works by composers Puccini, Fauré, and Herbet that bridge the Romantic and Classical eras.
Tickets may be picked up in the Main Office.
