The College of Music seeks to fund graduate students who are working towards building their brand, business, or future career through project-based work. $600 awards will be given to accepted projects. Ideas could include:
The Internship Opportunity Award program was established to encourage students who have demonstrated the capacity to accomplish educational and professional goals, the motivation to achieve these goals and the initiative to seek experiential learning opportunities to further progress toward their career. Awards of $1000 per awardee are available. The number of awards will be given based on available program funds and demonstrated student interest and need.
Internship Opportunity AwardOn March 15th, a student organization and service day was led by Sage Dole and Anna Young representing Tau Beta Sigma, Zeta Epsilon chapter. The group consisted of approximately 20 students who helped to clean and organize rooms and equipment at the Music and Music practice buildings. The group cleaned all the practice rooms, polished pianos, hung information/instruction signs, inventoried all music stands, chairs, and carts, repaired and serviced piano benches, music stands, and instrument lockers. The team is planning a second service day on April 12th.

Please join us in welcoming our new Assistant Director of Career Services and Entrepreneurship in the College of Music Running Start Office, Nicholas (Nick) Dold. His work will encompass assisting in the creation and implementation of our annual Running Start programming, managing employer development and our experiential learning programs, a portion of career advising, and Running Start marketing and communications. Nick has enjoyed a versatile career as a performer, educator, and arts administrator.
Nick joined the College of Music staff on Monday, March 3. He will be TEMPORARILY located in Music Building Office 110 but will move to a space in the Music Practice Building this summer. Another announcement will be made when we have his permanent office location.
The College of Music is pleased to announce the appointment of Dr. Meredith Bowen as assistant professor of choral conducting effective August 16, 2025. Dr. Bowen comes from Radford University where she is currently director of choral activities and associate director of the Virginia Governor’s School for the Visual and Performing Arts and Humanities. For more information about Dr. Bowen, please see her bio page. We look forward to welcoming her in August.
