A wide variety of performance opportunities await our students each year, with orchestras, bands, choirs and opera, jazz nonets and combos, small ensembles, and more.
A variety of programs and initiatives operate continuously or annually to enhance learning experiences and help students prepare for their future in music.
The MSU College of Music supports and challenges students, values innovation and creativity, and helps every community member achieve professional excellence.
The best way to get a feel for the College of Music and to learn more about our programs is to schedule a visit. Your visit will include a session with our Music Admissions staff, who can answer your questions regarding our programs, admission requirements, auditions, and financial aid. During the fall and spring semesters, we can introduce you to our faculty, sit in on classes and rehearsals, attend a recital or ensemble performance, and meet current students. To arrange a visit, please contact us (see below) at least 48 hours in advance. Visits can be scheduled weekdays during normal business hours. Although Admissions personelle are available to meet with you over over the summer, observing classes/ensembles and meeting with faculty/student usually are not.
Prospective undergraduates: Be sure to take advantage of programs sponsored by the MSU Office of Admissions. Presentations and campus tours are available. Visit their website or call (517) 355-8332 for more information. Visit their website or call (517) 355-8332 for more information.
