Master of Music in Collaborative Piano
Comprehensive training in chamber music, instrumental/vocal accompanying, and vocal coaching in addition to what is traditionally offered in a performance degree.
Master of Music in Composition
The composition program at Michigan State University lies at the intersection of the creation, research, and performance of music and sound with other art forms. Faculty and students engage in work in acoustic and electronic media, including chamber and large ensembles, real-time interactive performance, video/film, installation, instrument design, and improvisation.
Master of Music in Conducting (Choral)
Offers an intense, collaborative and comprehensive graduate degree program guided by renowned conductors. This program is offered during the academic year as well as exclusively in summer semesters.
Master of Music in Conducting (Orchestral)
Offers an intense, collaborative and comprehensive graduate degree program guided by renowned conductors.
Master of Music in Conducting (Wind)

Master of Music in Jazz
Committed to the highest level of performance, mentoring, education, and community outreach, providing numerous opportunities with world-renowned faculty.
Master of Arts in Musicology
Develops students into writers, scholars and researchers in a range of classical and vernacular musics.
Master of Music in Music Education (Summer Program)
Develops outstanding music educators and encourages, expands, and applies scholarship and teaching practice in new and innovative areas of music. This program is offered exclusively during summer semesters.
Master of Music in Music Theory
Integration between research and teaching. Develop skills in analysis, pedagogy, research, and musicianship.
MM Performance (Percussion, Piano, Strings, Voice, Winds)
Concentrated study in one of the following five performance areas: piano, stringed instruments, wind instruments, percussion instruments, or voice. Within this degree is offered specializations in Multiple Brass, Multiple Strings and Multiple Woodwinds.
Master of Music in Piano Pedagogy
Develops the knowledge base and skill set to adapt teaching methods to students of different abilities and learning styles.
Performance Diploma
The Performance Diploma Program is an intensive four-semester (two-year) course of study for musicians who have already achieved a high level of performance and wish to focus on developing their performing skills through further study.
