Suggested Audition Materials

Horn

An accompanist is neither required nor provided. You may bring an accompanist at your own discretion.

Undergraduate and Music Minor

  • All major and melodic minor scales (two octaves).
  • A technical etude selected from Kopprasch or Maxime-Alphonse, Vol. 2 or 3, that demonstrates technique and range.
  • One or two movements of a standard solo such as a Mozart concerto, Saint-Saen's Morceau Du Concert, or R. Strauss's Concerto No. 1.
  • Two or three standard orchestral excerpts (optional).

Master of Music, Doctor of Musical Arts, and Performance Diploma

Please contact Professor Corbin Wagner for information, but a general guideline is below:

  • Master of Music:  one complete major horn concerto, all scales full range on the horn, both major and minor, and arpeggios, five varied excerpts
  • Doctor of Musical Arts and Performance Diploma:  30 minutes of literature, including two major complete concertos, seven varied excerpts
