A wide variety of performance opportunities await our students each year, with orchestras, bands, choirs and opera, jazz nonets and combos, small ensembles, and more.
A variety of programs and initiatives operate continuously or annually to enhance learning experiences and help students prepare for their future in music.
The MSU College of Music supports and challenges students, values innovation and creativity, and helps every community member achieve professional excellence.
Applicants for the Bachelor of Music in Performance are required to submit a prescreening recording by Dec 1 (video required). Upload the videos to the Digital Portfolio section of the College of Music Supplemental Application. You will be given access to the Digital Portfolio after the College of Music Supplemental Application is submitted. If video is not possible, please write the College of Music Admissions Office to request an exception. Recordings will be reviewed by a committee from the piano area beginning the week following the December 1st deadline. You will be notified via email as to whether or not you have been invited for a live audition. The recording quality must be sufficient to make a reasonable judgment of ability and should contain three major works of contrasting periods.
If you are a pianist auditioning for Composition, Music Education, Bachelor of Arts in Music or the Music Minor, a prescreening recording is not required.
