Now in its 28th season, the Muelder Summer Carillon Concert Series brings the unique sound of the bells to life from the heart of MSU’s campus at historic Beaumont Tower. Curated by Jon Lehrer, director and carillonist of Beaumont Tower, this year’s series features six award-winning guest artists, including four honorees from the 2024 Queen Fabiola International Carillon Competition. Concerts take place every Wednesday at 6:00 p.m., July 2 through August 6, and are free and open to the public. Join us for a summer evening of music—bring a chair or blanket, pack a picnic, and enjoy the beautiful campus surroundings.
Guest Carillonist: Annie Gao
Representing the carillon tradition from Southern California, Annie Gao is a laureate of the 2024 Queen Fabiola International Carillon Competition and a member of The Diapason’s 2025 “20 Under 30” list. She brings a dynamic perspective shaped by international study and teaching, and currently serves as chair of the GCNA’s Emerging Artists Grant committee.
The program she will present for this event blends elegance and charm, featuring lyrical Baroque works by J.S. Bach, Classical-era favorites by Haydn and Clementi, and selections of romantic 19th- and 20th-century melodies including Schumann’s Der Nussbaum and Piaf’s Hymne à l’amour.
