Now in its 28th season, the Muelder Summer Carillon Concert Series brings the unique sound of the bells to life from the heart of MSU’s campus at historic Beaumont Tower. Curated by Jon Lehrer, director and carillonist of Beaumont Tower, this year’s series features six award-winning guest artists, including four honorees from the 2024 Queen Fabiola International Carillon Competition. Concerts take place every Wednesday at 6:00 p.m., July 2 through August 6, and are free and open to the public. Join us for a summer evening of music—bring a chair or blanket, pack a picnic, and enjoy the beautiful campus surroundings.

Guest Carillonist: Claire Janezic
Claire Janezic is an American carillonist currently living and studying in Belgium. A laureate of the 2024 Queen Fabiola International Carillon Competition and winner of the International Carillon Interpretation Competition in the Netherlands, she is pursuing a master’s degree in carillon pedagogy at the Lemmensinstituut in Leuven. Her training spans institutions in the U.S., Belgium, and the Netherlands, and she performs internationally as a soloist and as part of the carillon duo “Fellowship of the Ring.”

The program she will present for this event explores the carillon’s expressive range across centuries and styles. From Baroque-era selections by Isabella Leonarda and J.S. Bach to contemporary works from the Netherlands and the United States—including her own composition Mist Against the Cathedral—this program offers a richly varied experience with interwoven musical interludes and reflections from both past and present.
