Mentors for the 2026 Program
Sungyeon Ahn
A native of South Korea, pianist Sungyeon Ahn has performed as a soloist and chamber musician across South Korea, Germany, Brazil, and the United States. Her work has also been featured at national and international music conferences. She earned a Master of Music degree from the Indiana University Jacobs School of Music, studying with Norman Krieger, and is currently pursuing her Doctor of Musical Arts degree at Michigan State University under the guidance of Derek Kealii Polischuk.
Kelly Bohan
Kelly Bohan is a master’s student pursuing degrees in piano performance and piano pedagogy at Michigan State University. A student of Professor Deborah Moriarty, she completed her undergraduate studies in performance at MSU.
Aside from piano, Kelly studies organ under Dr. Hae Won Jang. She serves as the Dr. Edward D. Anderson organ scholar at St. Thomas Aquinas Church and gives solo recitals annually. She is also a part of You Can Feel the Music, a team seeking to make written music accessible to both non-sighted and sighted individuals.
Yi-Hui Chen
Yi-Hui Chen is a pianist from Keelung, Taiwan. She earned her Doctor of Musical Arts degree in piano performance from MSU in 2022 and is currently pursuing a second doctorate in collaborative piano with a graduate assistantship. Chen studied at National Taiwan Normal University and Indiana University, and has worked with esteemed pianists including Edward Auer, Roberto Plano, and Deborah Moriarty. An active performer, she collaborates widely—from chamber music and vocal ensembles to wind symphony and musical theater.
Lanqi Huang
Lanqi Huang is a master’s student in piano performance at Michigan State University, where she studies with Derek Kealii Polischuk. Originally from China, she earned her bachelor’s degree from Fujian Normal University with a scholarship and performed at several music festivals. She is also passionate about education, having taught students of all ages in China.
Michael Li
Pianist Michael Li’s vision of music as a medium of human communication, connection, and expression is the essence of what drives him as an artist. Since his appearance as a finalist at the National Junior Piano Competition and semi-finalist at the National Piano Competition in New Zealand, Michael’s hunger for excellence has led him to Michigan State University, where he has earned a Master’s Degree in Piano Performance with Dr. Eric Zuber, and is pursuing a second Master’s Degree in Piano Pedagogy.
Minmin Sun
Minmin Sun is a solo and collaborative pianist from Hebei, China. She holds a DMA in Piano Performance from Michigan State University, where she studied with Derek Kealii Polischuk with a graduate assistantship. She is currently pursuing a doctorate in Collaborative Piano and a Master of Music in Piano Pedagogy at MSU under Zhihua Tang and Derek Kealii Polischuk. As an active performer, she collaborates across art song, chamber music, wind ensemble, and musical theater.
Dailin Zeng
Chinese pianist Dailin Zeng is pursuing her DMA in Piano Performance at Michigan State University with Deborah Moriarty and serves as a graduate assistant. She holds BM and MM degrees from the Eastman School of Music. Zeng has won top prizes in international competitions including AYTIMC and the Ronald Sachs International Music Competition. She has performed in the U.S., China, Italy, and France, and is active as both a solo and collaborative pianist. Zeng also serves as organist at Holt United Methodist Church.
