Secure Ticket Purchasing: Avoid Scams
The official place to purchase tickets for Michigan State University College of Music performances is directly through our official ticketing websites, linked via music.msu.edu/events, etix.com/ticket/o/8826, or whartoncenter/events. If you purchase tickets from a third-party reseller, we cannot guarantee their validity, assist with issues like loss or fraud, or confirm authenticity. Only tickets purchased through our official vendor are guaranteed to be valid. We have no authority to provide refunds or replacements for third-party purchases.
We strongly encourage all patrons to always buy directly from our official sources to ensure entry and the best experience!
What to Watch Out For and Common Scams
- Lookalike Websites: Scammers create websites that look official, often with “Etix” or “MSU Music” in the domain name. Always double-check the URL (web address words following the http at the top of a page) to confirm you are on our official web page.
- Implied Affiliation: Unofficial websites may use the MSU logo without permission to mislead you into thinking they are the legitimate source.
- Misleading Search Results: Be cautious of sponsored ads that appear at the top of search engine results. These often link to resellers rather than the official source.
- Unusual Pricing: Extremely high markups or “too good to be true” low prices are red flags for potential fraud or price gouging.
- Misspellings and Inconsistencies: Fraudulent ticket sites may have typos and other issues with the information presented. They may also have ads on the page that promote other products or events. MSU Music official online ticket purchase locations will never promote anything other than MSU Music events.
If you think you have seen or purchased tickets from one of these fraudulent websites, you can file a Consumer Complaint Form with the Attorney General. For more tips and information, please see the Michigan Attorney General’s Online Ticket Purchasing Alert.
