A wide variety of performance opportunities await our students each year, with orchestras, bands, choirs and opera, jazz nonets and combos, small ensembles, and more.
A variety of programs and initiatives operate continuously or annually to enhance learning experiences and help students prepare for their future in music.
The MSU College of Music supports and challenges students, values innovation and creativity, and helps every community member achieve professional excellence.
The MSU Early Childhood Music Play Lab partners with organizations in the Detroit and Lansing areas to extend music play into the community.
Current partners include Early On of Ingham county; a variety of childcare centers, Early Head Start, and Head Start locations; Detroit Public Schools Community District; Brilliant Detroit; COTs; and Alternatives for Girls.
We collaborate to improve outcomes for children and families, and we are working toward collaborative research projects.
Our programs are funded by the PNC Foundation, the Max and Marjorie Fisher Foundation, MSUFCU, and the Eichler family.
If your organization is interested in collaborating with us, please contact the MSU Early Childhood Music Play Laboratory director, Karen Salvador, at ksal@msu.edu.
